Watch Where You're Growing
I don't know if this is a trunk or a root, live or dead. For conversation sake let's just say it is a live root, as I had first thought.
How many times have you stopped to take stock of how you are growing? How you are developing, and if your developments are on track? This tree could not stop to see how it was developing. It did not have the foresight as we do. No eyes to look around, no ears to hear advice, no mind to decide upon a course of action. It grew off the cliff looking for soil to secure it and water to nourish it. The root may be nourished briefly in the rain, but it will most likely die before it reaches the ground below.
We have sight, hearing, and the ability to process these inputs to form a decision about which way to go. Do we use them?
How many times in life do we stop and take inventory? Graduations, funerals, divorces, birthdays ending in "0". In the meantime, how far could you grow into nowhere like the tree? No earth to ground you. No reliable nourishment.
Just a question. No need for an immediate answer. Just one to ponder.
